About this course

This course with these unit of competencies assist’s participants with the skills and knowledge required to plan and coordinate weed control activities.


This course applies to workers who are required to carry out the control of weed infestations using cultural, biological and chemical methods to provide effective, economical control of weeds while minimising damage to the environment.

Delivery Method and Learning Outcomes

At NCA Consulting & Training we ONLY offer face to face training to ensure all our participants are competently training and assessed in the following areas:


  • Chemical use and the law – protecting the environment
  • Assessment of weed infestation
  • Planning, implementing and monitoring control measures
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
  • Identifying hazards with herbicide application and Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) risk assessment
  • Weather condition and spray drift
  • Selection and maintenance of tools, equipment and PPE for personal protection
  • Reading and understanding chemical labels and SDS’s
  • Calibration of application equipment
  • Using spray application tools
  • Transporting, handling and safe storage of chemicals
  • Keeping records of chemical use – incident reporting


Duration

NCA Consulting & Training offer a two (2) day nationally accredited hands-on course allows you to identify weeds and learn about their control, as well as how to safely apply, handle, transport and store chemicals.


Completion of this course will also qualify you for an Agricultural Chemicals Distribution and Control (ACDC) licence required by law in certain Australian States and Territories, when applying chemicals for a fee or on other people’s land.

Pre-requisites

There are no prerequisite required for this course however, participants require sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LL&N) skills to read and comprehend both chemical labels & Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s)

Assessment & Delivery Details

Assessment is in two (2) parts:


  • Knowledge Assessment
  • Performance Assessment


Course is conducted at your workplace or at a negotiated location.


Students competently completing the course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in AHCPMG301 Control weeds, AHCCHM307 Prepare and Apply Chemicals to Control Pest, Weeds and Diseases and AHCCHM304 Transport, handle and store chemicals.


If applying chemicals for a fee or on land not owned by occupied by you, in some Australian States and Territories, you must also be licensed under the relevant government department, in addition to completing this course. The process typically involves filling out an application form and sending it to the government department in question, with a certified copy of your Statement of Attainment and a licence fee.


Delivery Location

NCA Consulting & Training can conduct training courses at your facility under the following requirements:


  • Minimum 6 participants
  • Maximum 20 participants (conditions apply)
  • Suitable room for theory component
  • Suitable area for practical component (risk assessment and site inspection conducted)
